Hello

According to data from the Registration in the Indian Register there are many Kanehsatake members who still have the paper laminate band card.  As we have mentioned before this card will be phased out by the Department of Indigenous Affairs and the secure status card will replace it.  Would it be helpful to have a SCIS (secure certificate of Indian Status) application intake right here in the territory of Kanehsatake?   We would offer application completion including signed guarantor, photocopies of accepted identifications, and picture taking for the secure status band card.  If this would be of interest to you and your family I would appreciate if you could communicate your interest.  I would need to have at least 50 people interested in the intake session in order to make it a reality.  Date proposed for the intake session would be end of May 2018 over two days, offering an afternoon and evening session on day 1, and a morning session on day 2.  The proposed location would be the Kanehsatake Health Center boardroom.  I await your replies.  Best Regards,  Amanda Simon, Mohawk Council of Kanehstake.  Please leave your replies via the comments on this blog post, by email at:  simon.amanda@kanesatake.ca or phone at 450-479-8373 ext. 114 and leave your message.
